Frequently Asked Questions: Overcoming Common Challenges in Drug Testing Programs with Proctored Solutions

eMed took to the road to attend popular industry conferences and tradeshows this year.  We had the opportunity to attend IFDAT in Tampa, FL in April, NDASA in Hershey, PA in May, SHRM in Chicago, IL in June, PBSA in Boston, MA in September, NSC in Orlando, FL in September. and we will be at SAPAA in Dallas, TX in October. It is exciting to be among industry professionals and share our incredible proctored drug testing solution, eMed Screen™.

John Permenter, eMed Screen Head of Product, speaks at IFDAT in Tampa

While attending these shows we had the opportunity to present to attendees and exhibit as well.  We found that attendees had similar questions about the eMed Screen™ proctored solution.  The following is a short list of frequently asked questions we received, and you may still have about this product.

How do we know people aren’t cheating on the test?

An eMed proctored test is 100% observed on-line, by a trained professional who administers the tests and is fully trained to spot attempts at tempering.  eMed’s technology enables the device camera’s wide frame of view to capture the donor and their environment. In addition to live proctoring, all eMed sessions are recorded and retained for 7 years, meaning all attempts to tamper are reviewed by secondary eMed resources and immediately reported to the hiring company.

Lastly, any confirmatory testing is completed under chain of custody by capturing unique device codes and lab requisition IDs. This means if a donor attempts to swap out their device with another one, we will scan their device and immediately recognize it does not match.

Are you peeing on camera?

You are not, advances with Oral Fluid technology make eMed’s remote collection process possible. Minimally invasive, observed collections are now possible from anywhere in the country with an internet connection.

What’s the turnaround time on a non-negative?

All nonnegative samples are repackaged on camera and sent to the lab for confirmation testing via next day shipping. Once received by the lab, confirmed negative results are available in 2-3 business days, while results requiring MRO review usually take 3-5 business days.

What panels do you offer? Are they customizable?

9 PANEL: AMP, BAR, BZO, COC, MET, MTD, OPI, OXY, PCP

8 PANEL: AMP, COC, MET, MTD, OPI, OXY, PCP, THC

5 PANEL: AMP, COC, MET, OPI, OXY

Additional panels are available upon request.

Do you have to schedule an appointment?

No, eMed is available 24/7/365 without the need to schedule an appointment. eMed is able to accomplish this because of our global footprint, which allows us to staff proctors in various time zones and to be cross trained on various products. All we ask is that you notify eMed of any large upcoming testing events (such as career fairs, etc.) so that we can staff around busy times appropriately.

Are you really available 24/7?

Yes, our proctors are indeed.  Give us a try and see for yourself.

What languages do you support?

We currently offer English and Spanish.

If you missed catching up with eMed at any of these shows, or you would like to learn more about this solution, we are here to help.  We are also looking forward to attending more shows this fall. First at PBSA in Boston, MA, September 8th-10th and SAPAA in Dallas, TX, October 6th-9th. Reach out to our team and schedule a demo of our software and see why proctored drug testing is the answer you’ve been looking for.
